Guinness, in conjunction with The Publican, is looking to award six great community pubs in Great Britain with cash to use to spruce up the pub (i.e. with a new flatscreen television) and even give a bonus to your employees.

The winning pub receives prizes totaling £10,250 and five runners-up will each receive prizes totaling £2,500.

Why not let the owners of your favorite pub know about the contest so they can enter? Entries must be received by August 14, 2009.

Win a Trip for Two to Dublin, Ireland

To celebrate its 250th anniversary, Guinness is giving away trips for two to Dublin, Ireland. The prize includes roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodations (four days/three nights), and two tickets to the Guinness 250th Anniversary event at the Guinness Storehouse on 9/24/09.

You can only enter once, and you must enter by June 30, 2009.

Guinness will pick 24 winners (who each win a trip for two), with three winners in each of the following U.S. regions:

Mid Atlantic Region: KY, SC, VA, PA, TN, NC, DC
Mid South Region: TX, LA, MO, OK, KS
Mid West Region: MN, IA, IL, OH. IN, MI, WI
New England Region: CT, MA, VT, NH, RI, ME

Bertha Hyde celebrated her 100th birthday recently and credited regular pints of Guinness for her health and longevity.

“A pint of Guinness is good for you, that’s what they say, so maybe that is the secret to living so long,” said Mrs Hyde, originally from Weymouth, but now living in Stinchcombe manor care home, near Dursley.

Free GUINNESS for Gatwick Express Passengers

Passengers on the Gatwick Express train service will be treated to free Guinness on 15 March to mark St Patrick’s Day.

Customers on the platform at Gatwick airport station and Victoria station will be offered a free drink between 11:00 and 16:00 GMT.

Gatwick Express runs 160 services a day between London and Gatwick, carrying some 14,000 travellers.

Gareth Jones, the operator’s head of customer service, said: ‘St Patrick’s Day is an internationally-recognised festival and Gatwick Express carries both UK and international clientele, therefore we wanted to add a little fun and festivity for our passengers as they board the train.’

Flights are available from Gatwick to Belfast, Cork, Dublin and Ireland West Knock.
