Kirin Brewery Taking Over Japanese Guinness Distribution

Kirin Brewery will be distributing Guinness across Japan starting in June 2009, beating out Sapporo Breweries for the privilege.

When I think “beer” and “Japan,” two names come to mind: Kirin and Sapporo. I assume that they’re strong rivals, and I’m curious as to what led Guinness to stop using Sapporo (which I’ve always preferred over Kirin!).

Hi thanks for this info. Will have some kirin/Yebisu/Asahi when I visit Tokyo soon. Guinness tends to be expensive there!
By the way, it seems you haven’t had Guinness in it’s country of
origin yet!! It’s a well known fact that it doesn’t taste as good anywhere else!! Amazingly, Ireland doesn’t even feature on your Guinness map!! Good luck! Oh and Happy Arthur’s day to all!
250yrs young today!!
